Swaddling Helps!!

We learned a few lessons on calming our child. Needless to say he is not always happy. Sometimes he is not happy in any position. He wants to be held and cries and then wants down and cries, and eventually just rocks on his knees and cries. One of the nurses taught us how to swaddle him which was a GOD send!! After that (and a change to a Russian Binky) he was awesome. We are learning a few positions that might work on a long plane ride home. The second picture is of Brody playing with his new freind Kyle Gracon Keyes. He is the child of the other couple we have been traveling with. They have been great to have for support. They also remembered to bring all the things we didn't?? The third picture is of the three of them. Anyway, people were asking about the lack of snow in the last pictures. They were taken before the snow storm. It is still cold and icy here. We went down town yesterday and went to their malls. We bought a $60 diaper bag.. It was the only one we could find. We are still looking for a few other things he needs for his escort from Karaganda to Almaty. They want enough stuff to last them a week, for a two hour flight?? Everything is pretty expensive here. The unit of currency is the Tenge. We get 120 tenge for 1 US dollar. Average dinner is about $30 dollars. Baby clothes are very expensive, aprox $10 for a onesie?

You are getting some cute pics! He has a terrific smile. Hmmm, I wonder what's so appealing about being wrapped up like a burrito... What's the difference between a binky made in Russia and an American one? It looks round and flat. And even dressed up in ruffles and bows he's adorable.

Hi Lisa and Tige,
We love waking up to the new pictures of Brody every morning! We hope that you will continue once you're home (no pressure...and not every day of course!)

Try not to be too hard on yourselves!!!You're NOT supposed to know this stuff. That's why it's called initiation into parenthood! I wish there was a handbook too!!! Just remember...take a deep breath. It will take time for all of you to adjust, but it WILL all fall into place!

And Christine was right...I'm dying to start shopping! I'm thinking 12 month size???
All our best,
Mike, Jenn, Jake and Evan

Hey guys!! (Troy VanZandt says Hi!) We were just talking about how difficult it would be to have bonded so much with the baby and then leave for a MONTH! WHAT!? That'd be rough on everyone, right? Comfort us... LOL!

I am so proud of you both! You guys are using sensory integration techniques to calm your baby! What a great idea!

Hi Tige and Lisa,
We love the new pictures. We were away in New Hampshire for the weekend and did not check your blog but once we got back, I was on the computer checking to see the new updates. Yes, babies love to be wrapped up tight and held. I think maybe they feel safe and secure. You guys look like you are doing wonderful. I am sure at times things are tough--but seeing Brody's smile makes things worth it. He is just a beautiful baby. Hugs from us!!

Yeah Baby - You better pack for a week for a two hour flight. Let's face it - BLOW OUTS HAPPEN and only in poorly ventilated places full of people. Wipes, don't forget the wipes. They can get almost anything off of Brody, you and the guy sitting next to you. I would pay BIG bucks to see Tige on a plane with Brody. Lisa, not worried about you at all. Good Luck. We miss you lots and can't wait to have all three of you home soon. Liz

Oh! He looks sooo cute standing with Tige. He looks like a little man. :) I hope everything is going well for you guys. You can read all the books in the world on how to be a parent but all you have to do is give him lots of love, everything else will come naturally. I bet you never thought I could go so deep. Surprise!! LOL!! If you ever need help with little Brody at 3am feel free to call Mommy Jones or should I say Grandma Jones. Take care. Angela St.V's
PS Have you guys been doing your yoga?? ;)
